Be Here Now

I thought I would share some words I found in an old copy of Hindley Unitarian Chapel’s monthly newsletter. The fondly remembered former minister and former leader of the Meditational Fellowship, David Monk, spoke a great deal about staying in the present moment and these words reflect his mantra “Be Here Now” most aptly:

“If you think peace and happiness are somewhere else and you run after them, you will never arrive.

It is only when you realise that peace and happiness are available here in the present moment that you will be able to relax.

In daily life, there is so much to do and so little time.

You may feel pressured to run all the time.

Just stop.

Touch the ground of the present moment deeply and you will touch real peace and joy.”

Thought For The Day

Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity.  This evolution includes all aspects of one’s being, from bodily health to self realisation.  Yoga means union – the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul.  Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day to day life and endows skill in the performance of one’s actions.

“Concentrating on poses clears the mind, while focusing on the breath helps the body shift out of fight or flight mode”

                                                                                                                  Melanie Haiken

“Yoga is a light, which once lit, will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter the flame.”
